Media monitoring

Influence offers exhaustive monitoring of all daily newspapers, magazines and weekly publications in Canada and around the word. We also cover all radio and television news and can provide any of the following:

  1. Monitoring notes
  2. Transcripts
  3. Cassette and digital recordings

Our advanced ICE system ensures the continuous, automated monitoring of 500 Canadian and 7,000 international information Web sites. ICE is so powerful that we can analyse and sort every single news item from a Web site like canada.com in a mere 1.1 seconds.

Many of our clients also take advantage of our automated on-line monitoring service to keep tabs on the sites of their competitors and business partners.

Analysis

When a news item is important to you, you may need to determine its media prominence score, in other words, the amount of coverage it receives compared to other items. This makes up part of what we call a quantitative analysis. The media prominence score represents the percentage of space or airtime devoted to a particular topic compared to all the items reported on by newspapers, radio and television in a given area over a specified time frame.

A news item is considered to be significant when it achieves an overall media prominence score of 1%. This means that it was most likely a headline story for the major media for at least one day. A score of 5% indicates high media exposure and is generally associated with hot news items, scandals and election campaigns.

Support during peak periods

When things get busy, some clients need additional resources for an hour or two to help compile, sort, organize and quickly disseminate information. At Influence, we have a number of trained professionals available to help you with this type of task.
